Beyond the Networking events: Why I Built The Sandbox in Saigon
Saigon has an energy unlike anywhere else in Southeast Asia. Walk past any alleyway at 7 AM or 11 PM, and you see it: a relentless, frantic, beautiful drive. The tech ecosystem here isn’t "emerging", it’s arriving, loud and clear.
We have the capital pouring in, the incubators, and the shiny co-working spaces with panoramic views of District 1. By all accounts, the startup community in Ho Chi Minh City is booming.
But if you are a founder actually building something here, not just talking about it, you’ve likely felt a strange contradiction. You can go to a networking event every single night, collect fifty business cards, and still feel completely isolated.
While Saigon has no shortage of conventional networking events, most of them feel like they’re designed for everyone and therefore, they’re for no one. I started The Sandbox because founders and tech builders need something different. We don’t need more 'general business' talk; we need a specialized sanctuary where the conversation starts at the product level and stays there. This isn't a networking circle; it's an engine room for Saigon’s tech community
The Missing Ingredient in the Ecosystem
The current networking landscape in Saigon is heavily skewed toward optics. Too many "summits" consist of panels where successful founders give polished, retroactive advice that rarely applies to the early-stage reality.
What’s missing is the vulnerable middle ground.
There is a huge gap between the solo founder coding in a coffee shop in Binh Thanh and the VC-backed CEO sitting on a stage. That gap is where the real work happens—the messy, chaotic, "I don't know if this is going to work" stage.
The founder community in Saigon doesn’t need more business card exchanges. It needs a sanctuary where founders can drop the facade of "crushing it" and discuss the brutal realities of hiring in Vietnam, navigating local regulations, or running out of runway.
We needed a place where the ego is left at the entrance.
What The Sandbox Is Building
The Sandbox is a safe space where people in technology meets, connects and builds together.
Think of it less as a co-working space and more as a collision space. It’s built for accidental conversations that turn into partnerships, and late-night problem-solving sessions where someone three steps ahead of you points out the pothole you’re about to hit.
We are crafting a community specifically to accelerate "time-to-truth" for builders. We want to remove the friction between having an idea and testing it.
Who is The Sandbox For?
The Sandbox is a curated home for builders, developer, people in technology, and curious minds.

- The Zero-to-One Founder: You have an MVP (or just a pitch deck) and are currently experiencing the "lonely stage" of building.
- The Growth Operator: You are the COO, CMO, or Head of Engineering at a scaling startup, dealing with the unique friction of scaling a team in Saigon.
- The Curious Builder: You are currently in a corporate role, but you are spending your weekends and nights hacking away at a side project, looking for the signal to leap.

Not Another "Panel": The Events You Can Expect
We are done with generic "Future of Tech" panels. The Sandbox events are tactical, informal, and high-intensity. We are focused on action, not observation.
Our initial roadmap includes:
- Dinners: A small, curated group of 10-12 founders sharing the single worst thing that happened in their business that month, and what they learned. No cameras. No press.
- Talks Nights: Forget pitching to VCs for money. Pitch your product to fellow builders for critique. Get ripped apart by your peers before the market does it. Or simply discover new product and presentation that can help you to build smarter and faster
- The lab: Structured co-working days focused on execution, punctuated by "breakout sessions" where we deep-dive into a specific local problem (e.g., "Structuring sales commissions in VN" or "Navigating Decree 13").
- The After Hours: Very simple - we book a venue, you order drinks, you meet other like minded people and have tones a smart, fun, insightfull conversations

Saigon’s startup ecosystem has immense potential, but that potential is only unlocked when we stop operating in silos.
